Loket (Elbogen) region, Bohemia, first half of 19th century

Silver (probably engagement) necklace with filigree rosettes set with red and yellow cut glass, a gilt circular rosette set with a crucifix, and below a filigree medallion set in the centre with a 1765 coin – an Emperor Francis I (husband of Maria Theresa) thaler minted in Nuremberg. Accented throughout with Bohemian garnets. Numerous chains connect at the top to a gilt square escutcheon engraved with the monograms AN:DZ.
